The apple is rendered in charcoal and hand-drawn, symbolizes the bounty and abundance of nature. It is incorporated into a mixed media background which consists of many layers of diverse media. This is a new way for me to incorporate unstable (soft) materials such as charcoal, into a mixed media work. I am excited about this new process!

Softly renered brushstrokes, like ribbons, are gliding through the air, enveloping the apple. Metaphorically and visually this expresses the bond between the Earth and us, her children.
